China has lodged a diplomatic protest against Canada for including Chinese companies in new sanctions against Russia, with the foreign ministry stating opposition to unilateral sanctions lacking international law basis. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced sanctions targeting 76 individuals and entities supporting Russia’s military, forced transfer of Ukrainian children, and Putin’s regime, as well as 109 vessels involved in transferring sanctioned Russian goods fueling Russia’s war machine.
