Wedding day includes McDonald's drive-thru for low-frills couple

A couple from the U.K., identified as Ellie and Alex, gave up their plans for a big, expensive wedding and instead celebrated their “dream wedding” for less than $600, getting married at the local registry’s office for $70. Ellie wore a $300 gown, Alex wore a $188 suit, and they spent a total of $574 on their June 2024 wedding. They opted for a McDonald’s drive-thru instead of a traditional catered meal, had a small reception with 20 guests, and saved on photography by having Alex’s brother take the photos. The couple is now focusing on purchasing a home, taking care of their children, and going on a honeymoon to Paris and Dubai.
