British citizen Christian James Michel, an arms consultant accused of bribery in India, has been granted bail by the Supreme Court after six years in detention following his extradition from Dubai in 2018. The court cited trial delays as a key reason for the decision, expressing concern over the slow progress of the case. Michel, who denies the allegations, is accused of paying bribes to secure a helicopter deal for Agusta in 2010 under the Congress-led UPA government, valued at approximately £360m.
