Over 150 false killer whales were stranded on a remote beach near Arthur River in Tasmania, Australia. Of the 157 beached whales, only 90 were alive, complicating rescue efforts due to the inaccessibility of the beach. Authorities were assessing how to potentially refloat the stranded whales while experts were examining the cause of the stranding, which was the first by false killer whales in Tasmania since 1974. Residents discovered the stranded whales, with some possibly stranded for up to 48 hours.
