The Trump administration fired about 1,300 additional employees at the Interior Department over the holiday weekend, adding to the widespread purge of federal workers with probationary status. The firings affected agencies overseeing public lands and resources, including the Bureau of Reclamation and Bureau of Ocean Energy Management. Other agencies, such as the U.S. Geological Survey and National Science Foundation, also faced layoffs, with more than 10 percent of the NSF workforce being terminated.
