Huge sinkhole appears in high street

A large sinkhole has appeared on Godstone High Street in Surrey, leading to the evacuation of buildings and a road closure between Oxted Road and Bletchingley Road. The 100m cordon and extended closure are due to the sinkhole’s size of at least 19m long and 3m wide, with cracking and expansion observed. The sinkhole is linked to a burst water main, causing disruption to water supply and requiring urgent repair work by SES Water teams.
