The restaurant, named after Hawaiian surfing legend Duke Kahanamoku, has been a popular spot for tourists and locals for decades. Kathy Kohner Zuckerman, who inspired the film “Gidget,” still works at Duke’s as an “Ambassador of Aloha,” according to the restaurant’s website.
