Spanish tourist hotspot Malaga to ban horse-drawn carriages

The city of Malaga plans to ban horse-drawn carriages from its streets this year to protect the animals, following in the footsteps of other tourist destinations. Animal rights activists criticize the carriages for putting strain on horses, especially in high temperatures. However, the ban will not apply to traditional events like the annual fair in August, according to Malaga’s city councillor Maria Trinidad Hernandez.
