Since December, 7,000 individuals have entered India from Myanmar after submitting biometric details and credentials to Assam Rifles under the amended Free Movement Regime. Tightened regulations now require individuals to present a certificate from their village authorities and obtain a border pass valid for seven days for single entry. The Central government has permitted cross-border movement through 43 designated entry points, with only 22 currently operational, to monitor and track individuals entering and staying in border areas.
