The situation in the east, particularly in North Kivu and South Kivu provinces, remains volatile due to armed clashes and mass displacement, with the M23 rebels advancing towards Bukavu. Despite efforts to restore services in Goma, including water and electricity, the humanitarian situation remains dire, with overcrowded hospitals, food shortages, and high risks of epidemics like cholera.
