Sri Lanka defeated a second-string Australian team by 49 runs in the opening ODI in Colombo, with captain Charith Asalanka scoring an impressive century of 127 runs. Asalanka’s innings helped Sri Lanka reach a total of 214, while spinner Maheesh Theekshana took 4-40 to dismiss Australia for 165. The victory was a redemption for Sri Lanka after being swept by Australia in the recent Test series, with the second match scheduled for Friday in Colombo.
