Dozens of World War II bombs unearthed at children’s playground in northern England

Construction workers found over 170 World War II bombs under a children’s playground in Wooler, England, with bomb disposal experts called in to recover them. The 10-pound “practice bombs” were safely removed, but further excavation is ongoing to ensure the area is completely clear of explosives. This discovery is part of a larger trend in Britain, where unexploded ordnance from WWII continues to be found, prompting evacuations and controlled detonations to ensure public safety.
