Last night’s pause in vote counting in the Victorian seat of Prahran revealed the defeat of Greens candidate Angelica Di Camillo against Liberal candidate Rachel Westaway, who is currently neck-and-neck with the Greens candidate at 36 percent in the primary vote. Former Labor MP turned independent candidate Tony Lupton’s nearly 13 percent of the vote contributed to Westaway’s lead with 51.6 percent in the two-party preferred vote. Meanwhile, the seat of Werribee remains too close to call following a tight race, with Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan and Liberal Deputy leader Sam Groth both expressing optimism about their party’s chances of victory.
