In an update from OCHA, more than 25,000 people have been displaced from Manbij due to intensified hostilities, with clashes occurring in Aleppo and around the Tishreen Dam. The escalating violence has led to a total of 652,000 newly displaced individuals as of 27 January, with reports of shelling, clashes in displacement camps, car bombings, and criminal activities in coastal areas. The UN agency also highlighted the urgent need for $1.2 billion in aid to assist 6.7 million vulnerable Syrians, amidst severe public service and liquidity constraints in various governorates.

Besieged Reeves hit by even worse than expected economic growth forecast
Rachel Reeves received a boost with the Bank of England cutting interest rates to aid economic growth, benefiting businesses and mortgage holders. However, growth expectations were halved due to increased NHS spending in her Budget, leading to projections of rising inflation.
