The Ministry of Justice in England and Wales is removing the three-year time limit for child sexual abuse victims to sue for damages, following recommendations from the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse led by Prof Alexis Jay. The reforms will also encourage employers to apologize for the actions of current or former employees, with bills expected to be brought before Parliament in the next year. Additionally, the government is introducing mandatory reporting duties for those working with children to report sexual abuse and criminal sanctions for failure to report, as well as making grooming an aggravated factor in abuse case sentencing.
