Where the Taxis Are Motorcycles, and the Drivers Are Women

Monica Atieno, a mother of three from Kenya, joined a program to become a motorcycle taxi driver to support her family, facing opposition from her husband. Despite obstacles and harassment, she and other women received training, leading to newfound independence and success. The initiative, started by Dan Ogola to provide employment and access to healthcare, has empowered women like Lilian Rehema and Lucy Odele to become skilled “Boda Girls” and transform their lives.
