Former president of Spain’s soccer federation Luis Rubiales faces trial for sexual assault after kissing forward Jenni Hermoso without her consent following Spain’s victory at the Women’s World Cup final in 2023. Rubiales denies wrongdoing, but could face a prison sentence of one to four years if found guilty. Along with Rubiales, former Spain women’s national team coach Jorge Vilda, former sports director Albert Luque, and former head of marketing RubĂ©n Rivera are also on trial for pressuring Hermoso to support Rubiales, with prosecutors seeking prison sentences for all defendants.
