In Zimbabwe, Rhinos Are the Focus of a Village Tourism Project

In 2022, Mr. Butcher collaborated with Ngamo’s leaders to introduce white rhinos into the Ngamo Rhino Sanctuary, attracting over 2,500 visitors and generating $100,000 in fees for the community. Ngamo now boasts a medical clinic, market, school improvements, and a youth soccer club, while Mlevu struggles with no such amenities. The presence of the rhinos has brought economic opportunities and development to Ngamo, benefiting both villagers and tourists alike.
