Big Ass Fans has been fined $450,000 for false advertising claims that their air purifying devices can eliminate 99.99% of the virus that causes COVID-19, with $320,000 going to California customers. The company made misleading assertions about the effectiveness of their fans’ “clean air technology,” drawing criticism from experts and the EPA, leading to an injunction against future deceptive marketing. Former CDC director Robert Redfield’s involvement with the company also raised concerns about the validity of their claims.
