From 1 January to 29 December 2024, 804,721 cholera cases and 5,805 deaths were reported across 33 countries, with December 2024 showing a decrease in cases and deaths compared to the previous year. Despite high production of Oral Cholera Vaccines, demand still surpasses supply, hindering outbreak control efforts. Conflict, displacement, natural disasters, and climate change contribute to the complexity of cholera outbreaks, making them harder to manage, especially in rural and flood-affected areas with limited healthcare access.
