Despite opposition from Democrats and some Republicans, Hegseth, a former Fox News host and combat veteran, was confirmed amid concerns about his past behavior and qualifications. The confirmation marked a major victory for President Donald Trump, who praised Hegseth’s appointment as bringing a “warrior’s perspective” to the top military job.
