A special bench led by Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna has been formed to consider the interim bail plea of Tahir Hussain, an accused in the February 2020 riots related to the death of Ankit Sharma. Hussain, an AIMIM candidate, is seeking bail to campaign for the Delhi Assembly polls, with a Supreme Court bench set to hear his plea on January 28. Despite a split verdict in a previous hearing, the Delhi High Court granted custody parole for Hussain to file nomination papers, but refused interim bail due to the gravity of the allegations against him in connection with the riots.
