These orders aim to scrap federal diversity, equity, and inclusion programmes, calling them “illegal” and “discriminatory”, as well as reform federal hiring practices to focus on merit-based decisions. Trump also issued a separate action urging the private sector to end illegal discrimination and preferences, while revoking the 1965 Equal Employment Opportunity order signed by Lyndon B Johnson.
