Three Israeli hostages freed by Hamas were handed “gift bags” containing mementos from their time in captivity, including certificates and photos, before being driven to Al-Saraya Square in Gaza City to be handed over to the Red Cross. The bags, bearing the logo of Hamas’s armed wing, were seen as a potential propaganda tactic, with the purpose remaining unclear. The hostages were the first to be released as part of a ceasefire deal, with 33 more Israeli hostages set to be released in the coming weeks in exchange for nearly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners.
