Mourners bury journalist killed in one of Haiti's worst attacks on reporters

In Port-au-Prince, Haiti, mourners gathered for the burial of journalist Jimmy Jean, killed in an attack by armed gangs while covering the government’s failed reopening of the largest public hospital. The 44-year-old father of six was remembered with tears and anger, with journalists demanding compensation and justice from the government for the attack that also claimed the life of fellow journalist Marckendy Natoux. The attack, claimed by gang leader Johnson “Izo” André, highlighted the dangerous conditions faced by journalists in Haiti, where more than 5,600 people were reported killed last year.
