TikTok C.E.O. Plans to Attend Trump Inauguration

The chief executive of TikTok, Shou Chew, has been invited to sit in a position of honor on the dais at President-elect Donald J. Trump’s inauguration, alongside other tech executives like Mark Zuckerberg and Jeff Bezos. Despite previous attempts to block TikTok in the US, Trump has expressed support for the app, potentially intervening in the law requiring ByteDance to sell TikTok to a non-Chinese company by Jan. 19. This shift follows meetings with Republican megadonor Jeff Yass and TikTok executives, with Trump stating he has a “warm spot” for the platform and plans to decide its fate.
