The World Monuments Fund has released its biennial Watch List of endangered places, including areas threatened by climate change, natural disasters, and human conflict. One of the most severely impacted areas is Gaza, where heritage sites have been destroyed by ongoing military conflict since 2023. The destruction has severed vital connections between the people of Gaza and its urban fabric, including historic buildings like the Church of Saint Porphyrius. The WMF aims to raise awareness and funds to help preserve these sites and restore their cultural significance once peace is restored.
