The discovery of the camps, starting with Majdanek in 1944 and ending with Theresienstadt and Stutthof in 1945, revealed the atrocities committed by the Nazis. Despite initial censorship, the release of images from camps like Ohrdruf prompted Allied leaders to lift all restrictions, ensuring the world saw the “conditions of indescribable horror” inflicted by the Germans.
