Adeel Khan, 30, from Waltham Forest, east London, has been charged with assisting former soldier Daniel Khalife after he escaped from HMP Wandsworth in September 2023 by strapping himself to the underside of a food delivery van. Khan is also accused of possession of a phone in prison and is due to attend Westminster Magistrates’ Court. Imran Chowdhury, 25, had previously pleaded not guilty to assisting Khalife during his escape, who was found guilty of spying for Iran and breaching the Official Secrets Act and Terrorism Act.
