Over the weekend, the Azusa Police Department arrested a homeless man suspected of setting a brush fire at Pioneer Park near the foothills. The suspect, Jose Carranza-Escobar, was seen by residents attempting to start another fire by setting fire to a fallen tree, leading to his arrest on suspicion of arson. This incident follows a similar one in which residents in West Hills detained a suspected arsonist, Juan Sierra, who is now a person of interest in the Kenneth fire near the county line.

Hawaii man freed after 30 years in prison for murder he denied committing, celebrates with steak dinner
Gordon Cordeiro, who spent 30 years in prison for a murder he claims he did not commit, was freed in Hawaii after new DNA evidence led to the overturning of his conviction. After his release, he enjoyed a steak dinner, visited his mother's grave, and spent time with family.
