In the Orange Bowl, Notre Dame defeated Penn State with a 27-24 comeback victory thanks to Mitch Jeter’s 41-yard field goal in the final seconds. Notre Dame advanced to the College Football Playoff national championship game after winning their 13th consecutive game, with quarterback Riley Leonard leading the way and Christian Gray’s interception setting up the winning score. Despite a strong performance from Penn State’s Nicholas Singleton, who tied an Orange Bowl record with three rushing touchdowns, the Nittany Lions fell short in their quest for a national title.
