A powerful earthquake measuring 7.1 on the Richter scale has struck the remote region of Tibet, killing 126 people and injuring 188 others in the Shigatse high-altitude county of Dingri, with over 1,000 houses damaged. The quake’s epicentre, near Mount Everest, has hindered rescue efforts due to extreme cold temperatures, with temperatures expected to drop to minus 18 degrees Celsius. The region has experienced strong tremors, with buildings collapsing, and rescue efforts are ongoing amidst challenging conditions.
