Strong earthquake kills dozens in region of Tibet near Mount Everest

A powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 7.1 struck Tibet, China, killing at least 95 people and injuring 130 others. The earthquake caused significant damage to homes and buildings, with about 1,000 houses damaged. The epicenter was located near Mount Everest, triggering dozens of aftershocks. Rescue efforts involving 1,500 fire and rescue workers, 200 soldiers, and Chinese leader Xi Jinping were underway to search for survivors. In Nepal, where the earthquake was also felt, there were no immediate reports of injuries or damage. This earthquake was one of 10 of at least magnitude 6 in the region over the past century.
