Scores dead as earthquake strikes Tibet's holy city

At least 53 people have died and 62 are injured in Tibet after a 7.1 magnitude earthquake struck Shigatse city, damaging over 1,000 buildings. The region, home to Mount Everest, experienced aftershocks and a series of tremors, with rescue efforts launched by the Chinese air force. While no casualties were reported in Nepal, where tremors were felt, President Xi Jinping has called for search and rescue operations to minimize casualties and assist affected residents.
