Ex-prison officer jailed over sex with inmate

Former HMP Wandsworth prison officer Linda De Sousa Abreu has been sentenced to 15 months in jail for engaging in sexual activity with an inmate, which was caught on camera and shared online. The governor of Wandsworth Prison expressed disappointment in Abreu’s actions, stating that they had undone years of work on behalf of female staff in all-male prisons. Abreu, who pleaded guilty to misconduct in public office, was arrested at Heathrow Airport before attempting to flee to Madrid with her father.
