Venezuela’s government has offered a $100,000 reward for information on the whereabouts of opposition candidate Edmundo González, who claims to have defeated President Nicolás Maduro in last year’s election. González left Venezuela for exile in Spain after a warrant for his arrest was issued, following an investigation into the election results. Despite global condemnation, Maduro’s victory has been reaffirmed, and he is set to be sworn in for another term on Jan. 10, while González plans to return to Venezuela by that date.
