African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) mentorship program empowers Somali girls

14-year-old Ilhan Jimcaale Abdi, a student at Dhobley Primary School, has experienced a positive transformation thanks to receiving hygiene kits from the ATMIS Female Engagement Team. The program has boosted her confidence, allowing her to focus on her education and dream about her future. Through mentorship sessions on personal hygiene and self-care, the collaboration between ATMIS FET and the Dhobley Women’s Association is empowering girls in Dhobley to attend school without the fear of missing class due to menstruation, ultimately aiming to increase girls’ transition to higher education and long-term economic empowerment.
