Illegal fireworks in Melbourne’s north caused three fires after New Year’s celebrations, with police receiving 287 reports of incidents but no serious injuries reported. Officers seized illegal fireworks, including two large containers at Safety Beach, and are investigating three fires in Glenroy, Kurunjang, and Greenvale. Following a recent death from a fireworks incident, police are urging people to avoid illegal fireworks to prevent further accidents.
