France observed a national day of mourning for the victims of Cyclone Chido in Mayotte, which left 35 dead and 2,500 injured, with a minute of silence and flags at half-staff. The cyclone also hit Mozambique, where 94 people were reported dead. President Macron and Prime Minister Bayrou participated in the mourning, with criticism over delays in forming a new government as efforts continue to restore basic services in the devastated areas.
