Wildlife TV presenter Chris Packham and former Green Party MP Caroline Lucas have resigned as president and vice-president of the RSPCA following allegations of animal cruelty at some of the charity’s approved abattoirs by campaign group Animal Rising. The RSPCA has responded by increasing unannounced visits and exploring the use of bodyworn cameras and CCTV to address the issue. Packham and Lucas cited the charity’s failure to address systemic cruelty and uphold its animal welfare standards as the reason for their resignations.
