Woman Runs Marathon After ‘Long, Intense Training,’ Wakes Up in Hospital

Marathon runner Analiese Marquez passed out during the Honolulu marathon due to heatstroke, waking up surrounded by medics in the medical tent. She spent four nights in the hospital being treated for heatstroke and rhabdomyolysis, a condition caused by muscle breakdown. Dr. Shoshana Ungerleider advises on the importance of hydration and pacing in marathons to prevent such incidents.
