French court finds Gisèle Pelicot’s ex-husband guilty of rapes – NBC Chicago

In a historic trial in France, Gisèle Pelicot’s ex-husband, Dominique Pelicot, along with 46 other men, were found guilty of raping and sexually assaulting her over a decade, with Dominique Pelicot sentenced to 20 years in prison. The men, aged 26 to 74, received sentences ranging from three to eight years, with only a few expressing remorse. Pelicot, who learned of the crimes through a police investigation into her husband’s illicit activities, chose to make the trial public in an effort to combat the societal trivialization of rape and promote women’s rights in France.
