Mexico’s anti-monopoly regulators have imposed special conditions on Walmart’s Mexico subsidiary for 10 years, following a $4.6 million fine for alleged monopolistic practices. The Federal Competition Commission ruled that Walmart must refrain from pressuring suppliers for discounts, as it had done for 13 years, unfairly impacting competitors. Walmart de Mexico plans to appeal the fine, claiming errors in the application of the law and describing the case as unfair.
