The Mumbai Police arrested three individuals for allegedly defrauding an elderly woman of Rs 2.85 crore through a fake stock market investment scheme, where they posed as legitimate stockbrokers and offered fake investment opportunities. The scammers used Whatsapp to contact the victim, presented a professional webpage, and provided forged documents to gain her trust before duping her. The accused were identified as Sheshnath alias Ganesh Shatrughan Pandey, Satish Ashok Punamiya, and Rahul Rajkumar Bachchan, who were arrested in separate raids in Daman and Diu, Gujarat, and Mumbai, with police suspecting their involvement in 130 similar cyber crime cases in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
