What Syria means for Hezbollah's efforts to rebuild Lebanon

Khalil Moussa Shoumar, an auto parts seller in Nabatieh, Lebanon, had his home destroyed by Israeli airstrikes twice, first in 2006 and again in October. After the recent destruction, one of Shoumar’s sons was killed and another left in a coma. Hezbollah has pledged to compensate victims and rebuild homes, but the war’s toll may complicate these efforts, as the destruction is significantly greater than in 2006. Hezbollah’s leader, Naim Qassem, announced financial aid for families, with $14,000 per year for those in Beirut and its suburbs, and $12,000 for those outside. The money is said to be a gift from Iran.
