Tory Baroness Faces Parliament Ban For Racial Comment

A Tory baroness is facing a three-week ban from the House of Lords for racially harassing an Asian peer by calling him “Lord Poppadom” and left a Black Labour MP distressed after touching her hair during a visit to Rwanda by the Joint Committee on Human Rights. The Lords Commissioner for Standards found that the incidents met the criteria for harassment, leading to the recommendation of a suspension and behavior training for Lady Meyer by the conduct committee. Lady Meyer has apologized for the distress caused and the Conservative Party has acknowledged the independent investigation and recommended sanction.
