South Korea President Yoon Suk-yeol met with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov before declaring martial law, agreeing to enhance relations and deepen cooperation in trade, energy, and mining. Kyrgyzstan, historically overlooked in South Korea’s regional engagements, saw the signing of several agreements during Japarov’s state visit, focusing on energy projects and the significant antimony reserves in the country. Japarov also discussed plans for future summits and cooperation with South Korean officials, despite uncertainties surrounding Yoon’s hold on power following the martial law declaration.
