American-Israeli IDF platoon commander killed in battle, body held in Gaza, IDF says

American-Israeli Capt. Omer Neutra, a tank platoon commander in the IDF, was killed in battle on Oct. 7, 2023, during a Hamas attack on the Nova Music Festival in Israel. Neutra’s body has been held hostage in Gaza, making him one of seven American hostages still captive. Cease-fire negotiations have faltered, with hopes that the incoming Trump administration may bring change and secure the hostages’ release.
