As a child of immigrant parents from Haiti, the author grew up in the diverse neighborhood of St-Michel with a strong sense of community and the desire to give back. Now the director of the Centre Lasallien community center, the author sees their role as a privilege to support and uplift the neighborhood they love. Through their work, they aim to provide opportunities for a better future for the residents, just as their mother did for them when she left Haiti.
