Honey industry group set to merge

A major shakeup in the honey sector is imminent as ApiNZ and UMFHA plan to merge, citing financial sustainability issues due to dropping honey returns. The new organization will focus on uniting the industry, maintaining beekeeper advocacy, and emphasizing export opportunities to double honey exports by 2030. Consultations with members are ongoing, with the goal of establishing the merged entity by April 2025, addressing membership and governance structures.
